Construction and Maintenance of Ontologies with Quantified Relationships of Concepts

   Abstract

Ontologies are an important building block of modern information retrieval systems. In our XXL Search Engine, ontological knowledge and appropriate index structures are applied for semantic similarity search on XML data extracted from the Web.

The goal of this thesis is a Web Service implementation of a quantified ontology, using information from WordNet as a basis and implementing several different algorithms for determining the similarity of concepts.
